"I have been swimming at emOcean's salt water pool since 2002 under its previous owner/operator. Before Rosanne bought it, it was operated on a sporadic basis. One could not always count on it being open and when it was open, it was not always clean. Oftentimes I could not see the bottom of the pool. Since then I have watched Rosanne transform the building into a top-rate spa. Rosanne Balsom has shown remarkable courage and vision. She is an extremely hard worker and has made huge sacrifices in order to make her business a success. She has developed a facility that accommodates the elderly, the disabled, injured athletes, athletes in training, and families and individuals seeking aesthetics, physiotherapy, recreation and fitness.

Last year I sustained an injury that sidelined me for over eight months. If it wasn't for emOcean Spa I would have nowhere to recover. The pool offers an outlet for physical exercise which is both relaxing and restorative. I look forward to working with Cecil Newman at emOcean's gym for further strength training as I recover more.

Without this facility I, and people like me, would have to travel to Halifax for long-term restorative care. We are so fortunate to have this facility in Lunenburg. Rosanne has created a model that adds to the quality of life in our small town. Other towns should adopt her model. To do so they will have to find another Rosanne. Not an easy task. We are so lucky to have her."

"emOcean is a facility that has, successfully on its own, without any targeted marketing efforts, attracted a number of loyal customers who are very enthusiastic about the facility and what it offers the community.

On site specialists will serve a number of needs from physiotherapy, registered massage therapy, nutrition, lifestyle programming to naturopathy. To have all these specialists under one roof, that is not a hospital, is certainly unheard of and to be commended.

What's more, area residents, many of whom are seniors, will not have to make the long drive to the Valley or Halifax to have their needs attended.

With recent social trends towards a healthy, active lifestyle and an aging population, a facility such as emOcean will certainly be in demand for years to come. For instance, Mahone Bay – has the highest proportion of senior citizens of any community in Nova Scotia. A number of these seniors are active participants of the Elderfit program, which utilizes emOcean's salt water pool. I am sure that the users of the pool will become, if they are not already, users of the additional services offered by emOcean!

I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed my visit yesterday. Your new sauna is everything I’d read about and wanted to experience. I especially like the clear door that lets you see the lovely tiles in the cozy adjoining rooms and doesn’t give you a claustrophobic feeling like other saunas I’ve used. The heated towel rack, contemporary floating sinks, and unique floral arrangement featuring rose petals just added to the overall pampered feeling - not to mention the personal slippers and towel wrap to wear in the sauna.

I have carried a pool membership for just over a year and have been very pleased with the excellent value for my money. The facility is beautiful and my annual membership allows me to have access on a flexible schedule that really suits my busy life. The benefits are endless: As a person with arthritis I can attest to improvement in my joints but have also experiences an overall improvement in my general feeling of wellbeing. It can be an extremely relaxing experience! And the social aspect of membership cannot go without note. While not a senior or a person with children, I believe that all the programs offered at the pool, and especially for these groups, are essential the community’s wellness.
